The Australia–International Table Discussion 2026, hosted by the Australia–International Collaborative Research Organisation (AICRO), will convene leading researchers, industry practitioners, policymakers, and innovators to explore the transformative role of AI in healthcare innovation and commercialisation This forum addresses critical gaps in translating research into practical, scalable solutions while fostering robust collaboration between Australian and international institutions.
Event Objectives
The event will explore how AI can accelerate research translation and improve healthcare outcomes. It will address challenges in moving research from discovery to market, including regulatory, funding, and commercialisation barriers. Participants will collaborate on multidisciplinary projects across academia and industry. The discussion will highlight government and international grant opportunities and venture investment pathways for AI-driven healthcare innovation. Opportunities under Australia’s Economic Accelerator (AEA), a $1.6 billion initiative supporting research translation and commercialisation, will also be showcased. Interactive roundtables and expert panels will provide insights on AI applications, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and global approaches to innovation. Outcomes will aim to inform policy, support economic growth, and accelerate the impact of Australian research nationally and internationally.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in collaborative research projects bridging academia, industry, and technology partners, build multidisciplinary teams to co-develop AI-enabled healthcare innovations, access insights into funding programs, commercialisation pathways, and policy frameworks, and network with national and international experts to foster collaborations that accelerate research impact.

Key themes will include AI in healthcare research and clinical applications, translating AI and healthcare research from discovery to commercialisation, industry–university collaboration and partnership models, policy, regulatory, and ethical considerations for AI in healthcare, funding and investment strategies to accelerate innovation, and global best practices and cross-border collaboration.
